Tattoos,
fist-pumps, warehouses and extreme sports! You guessed it, it’s Nass Festival
2014, and when the wait was finally over, and the gates opened at 6pm on Friday
evening, the entire site was instantly flooded with revved up festival goers
filling the main road on their way to party.
The
stage was set for WEFEW’s first ever festival appearance, featuring their
original collection and their new summer collection called “Like Water We
Flow.” The brand’s stall also featured a competition to a tank top and cap of the summer collection
where dozens of passer’s-by signed up with the WEFEW mailing list to have a
chance at taking the prize home.
The
parkour clothing brand was based in the Stall Yard of the festival grounds
where the energy was buzzing non- stop, with a half pipe where skateboarders
from under 10’s to over thirties were throwing down during different
competitions throughout the day, D.Js playing tunes from old school hip hop to
heavy metal, and not to mention, all of the other amazing brands from
skateboard companies to clothing brands exhibiting their merchandise.
Unlike
a normal marketplace, the stall yard seemed akin to a mini festival with brand
promotion based performances such as the skateboarding, breakdancing, and not
to mention the WEFEW team wowing shoppers with intrepid parkour tricks and
acrobatics around the stall yard. The atmosphere was so much fun that staff at
the competing stalls became a team of friends that had come together to promote
each other’s brands while displaying their own.
Outside
the Stall Yard, there was constant action at the Pro Park, with athletes who
held nothing back as they were fearlessly shredding it in skateboarding, in-
line skating and BMX competitions, while showing noble displays of friendly
sportsmanship. Outside of the Pro Park the action did not stop with even more
extreme sport performances, including an exhilarating motocross display where
riders gave crowds of spectators a nail-biting show during which they pulled
off their latest and most daring bike tricks.
Apart
from a rain shower on Saturday, the weather was consistently sunny and warm,
leading festival goers to the many different stages around the site to see
their bands and acts perform in the sick line up including Skindred, Funeral
For a Friend, Cyrpus Hill, The Gallows, The Bronx, and DJ TC.
The
club nights housed in the large warehouses on site went on till 3.30 am, with
festival goers partying so hard that even the ceiling began to sweat with
condensation, making it feel as though it was taking place outside in the rain.
WEFEW
filmed the ROAR MOVEMENT free-running team’s epic performance in the parkour park
on site, with the traceurs rocking WEFEW’s “Like Water We Flow” collection
while representing for all the free-runners out there with their display of
acrobatic stunts from up to 10 feet high platforms, big tricks and solid
tumbles, responded by the on looking public with a chorus of “ooooos”,
“ahhhhhs” and “OMG’s!”
With
the lively atmosphere surrounded by extreme sports, brilliant people and
excellent music throughout, there couldn’t be a better festival for WEFEW to
make their first appearance. The team had an excellent time while promoting the
brand there, and are looking forward to a possible re- appearance at the Nass
festival next year.
